BROOKHAVEN – Services for Gladys Watts Byrd, 89, of Brookhaven, who died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Byrd was born Oct. 24, 1918, the daughter of Marshall Watts and Beulah Smith Watts. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carlos Watts and J.W. Watts; and one sister, Effie Watts.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Louis “Tuck” Byrd; two sons, Cortez Byrd and wife, Barbara, both of Brookhaven and Bruce Byrd and wife, Mary Davis, both of Wesson; two sisters, Marie Sims of Kentwood, La., and Helen James of Brookhaven; six grandchildren, Terry Byrd and wife, Liz, both of Brookhaven, Patricia Carter and husband, Courtland, both of Sarasota, Fla., Pam Byrd-King of Wesson, Tonya Stewart and husband, Gary, both of Brookhaven, Sophie Adam and husband, Timmy, both of Perkinston and Carroll “Sissy” Martin of Manderville, La.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
