ONESVILLE, La. – Services for Roy B. Riley Sr., 86, of Jonesville, La., who died Monday, March 3, 2008, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, in Alexandria, La., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, in Jonesville, with the Rev. Jimmy Pyles officiating.
Burial will follow at Nolley Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Riley was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Trout, La., the son of John Riley and Martha Jones Riley. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Riley served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the China-Burma-India theater and received the bronze star. He was employed with Catahoula Bank in 1950 as a clerk. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1958 and became president in 1973 and retired in 1996. During his tenure as president, the bank experienced substantial growth with assets increasing by over $50 million.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Odis Riley; and one sister, Doris Riley Bethard.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Helen Riley; two sons, Roy “Butch” Riley Jr., and Ron K. Riley and wife, Rachel, all Baton Rouge; one daughter, Stephanie Riley Labarre and husband, Steven, both of Denham Springs, La.; six grandchildren, Ashley Danielle Riley, Eric Nathaniel Riley, Riley Davis Labarre, Elizabeth Bennett Labarre, Olivia Lynn Labarre and Victoria Hanhart Labarre.
Pallbearers will be Stanford E. Richardson, Stan Richardson, Kevin Brooks, Kyle Brooks, Jess Bethard, Robert Truett and James White.
