Franklin County sweeps Jefferson County

BUDE — The Franklin County Diamond Dawgs collected two varsity wins against Jefferson County Thursday night, beating the Wildcats 10-0 and 13-3.
The Bulldogs (7-1, 4-0) will play host to Natchez High Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.

Led by two doubles from DeHendret Collins and Matthew Lofton in game one, the Bulldogs overpowered Jefferson County. Seniors Ryne Tutor and Blaine Abernathy also plated two singles.
Sophomore hurler Colton Laird collected the win, striking out six and walking none. He allowed one hit.
Percy Turner had Jefferson County’s only hit.

A top of the fifth inning explosion of six runs led the Bulldogs to their seventh win in a row this season. The Bulldogs was led by Collins at the plate with a double and two stolen bases.
Blaine Abernathy secured the win for the Bulldogs on the mound, striking out eight and walking three, and allowing two earned runs on three hits.
Zachariah Dyer absorbed the loss for Jefferson County.
The Bulldogs are coached by Jeremy Loy, and assisted by Brad Mullins and Brent Calcote.
