NATCHEZ — Services for Derrick De’Auntrey Stampley, 20, of Jackson, who died Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Jackson, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at New Hope Baptist Church with Bishop Stanley B. Searcy Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Westhaven Funeral Home in Jackson.
Visitation will be from 1:15 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Stampley was born Feb. 12, 1988, in Natchez, the son of Annette Stampley Walker and Vince Shannon. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Vera Lee Kelly and Lucy Shannon.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Joe Walker, both of Jackson; his father, Vince Shannon of Garland, Texas; three children, Jaquarius and Shaniya Bell, both of Jackson and newborn son, Derrick De’Auntrey Stampley of Natchez; one brother, Aaric Stampley of Jackson; two sisters, Tamera Stampley of Jackson and Valencia Shannon of Garland, Texas; two devoted nephews, Tamarius Brooks and Aaric Stampley Jr.; grandmothers, Helen Kelly of Natchez and Geraldine Robinson of Vidalia; grandfathers, Roosevelt Mickell of Las Vegas and Al Stampley of Fayette; five uncles, Lamar Stampley and Armond Shannon, both of Natchez, Barry Green of Las Vegas, Hoza Shannon of Garland, Texas and Silas Kelly and wife, Oprene, both of Douglasville, Texas; three aunts, Debra Covington and husband T.J., of Natchez, Lamonica Barnes, of Pearl, Texas, and Mary Williams, of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Courtney Ford, Dennis Simpson, Tamaro Brooks and David Tyler.
