NATCHEZ – Services for Curtis P.
“C.P.” Smith, 73, of Natchez, who died Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. James Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery, in Brookhaven, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Brookhaven, the son of Earl J. and Lillie Louise Laird Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Louis Smith and Shirley Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Smith; one daughter, Regina Rand and husband, Donald, both of Natchez; one son, Reggie Smith and wife, Denise, both of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Ashlea Rand, Shelby Smith and Bo Smith; three sisters, Pauline Falvey of Brookhaven, Yvonne Cothren of Natchez and Marjorie Haney of Crosby; special aunt, Tommie Laird of Natchez; very special in-laws, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Adrian Day, Kenny Jackson, Lavonne Hamilton, Tracey Whitehead and Bubba Dill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Byrd, Jack Whitehead and the employees of Great River Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Edward Daly, Dr. John P. O’Brien, Dr. Kenneth Stubbs, the employees at Natchez Regional Medical Center, the employees and doctors of the MICU at University Medical Center, Dr. Rajesh Patel, special nurses, Shauna and Connie, and the employees of Select Specialty Hospital.
