woodville — Area legislators have introduced bills to construct a new spillway at Lake Mary.

The spillway is needed to replace the old structure, Rep. Angela Cockerham, D- Magnolia, said.

House Bill 1505 would authorize the borrowing of $2 million needed for the project.

A similar bill was introduced in the Senate.
