FLORENCE, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a man who was shot by a Florence police officer is recovering in fair condition at a hospital.
Florence Police Chief Richard Thomas identified the man who was shot Thursday as Joshua Myers. The chief says police were responding to a domestic violence call at a residence Myers shared with his mother.
Florence Mayor Wendell Godfrey says Myers was shot once after allegedly threatening police with a knife.
Myers was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and listed in fair condition Thursday afternoon.
Thomas said the officer who shot Myers is on administrative leave.
