CENTREVILLE — What has been a tough season for Centreville Academy continued Monday afternoon as the Tigers lost to the fifth-ranked Parklane Pioneers 16-3 in five innings.
Class AAA Parklane (12-3) came out with the big bats in this non-district contest. The Pioneers had nine of their 15 base hits go for extra bases, including home runs by Eric Boyd, Josh Armstreet and Blake Brown. Kyle Adams had two doubles and a triple while Armstreet finished a single away from hitting for the cycle.
Brad Jelks had a double for Class AA Centreville (0-11), which managed just three hits off winning pitcher Shelby Johnson. Chase Wilkins took the loss on the mound for the Tigers.
Parklane scored five runs each in the top of the first and second innings to jump out to an early 10-1 lead and then capped the game off with six runs in the top of the fourth.
Centreville returns to MPSA District 5-AA action today when it hosts Silliman Institute.
