NATCHEZ – Services for Herbert Lewis, 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewis was born Feb. 10, 1922, the son of Toby Lewis and Lucinda Goins. He attended Natchez public schools. Mr. Lewis was retired from Sears. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacon board. He was also a member of the senior choir, the Brotherhood Club, and was past superintendent of the Sunday school.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Hattie B. Sims-Ellis.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lewis; three sons, Herbert Lewis Jr., Robert Lewis Sr. and Paul F. Lewis Sr.; two daughters, Darleen Johnson and Joyce Lewis; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
