NATCHEZ – Services for Troyce Eual Guice, 75, a retired businessman, of Natchez, who died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Revs. Dan Wynn and Clyde Ray Webber officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Guice was born in St. Joseph, La., the son of Ivy Eual Guice and Tressie Westbrook Guice. He graduated from Joseph Moore Davidson High School and attended Mississippi Southern University. He moved to the Miss-Lou in 1954, opening Guice Buick in Ferriday. In 1958, he moved to Wisner, opening Guice Chevrolet and in 1959, returned to the Miss-Lou and opened Guice Chevrolet in Ferriday. In 1961, Mr. Guice purchased his first farm starting Guice Farms which expanded to farms in five states. He returned to the automobile business in 1991, opening Guice Chevrolet in Winnsboro.
Troyce was the owner of T.G. Ribs and The Natchez Landing in Natchez and Baton Rouge. He was a former member of the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association and served on the Louisiana Levee Board, the Mississippi River Bridge Commission and the National Guard. Troyce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Lynda McLaurin Guice; three daughters, Carroll Smith of Germantown, Tenn., Kimberly Morrow of Opelousas, La., and Anne McDaniel and husband, Patrick, both of Natchez; one son, Wes Guice of Natchez; seven grandchildren, Michelle Pryor and husband, Stephen, both of Dallas, Matthew Headley of Oxford, Allison Morrow and William Morrow, both of Opelousas, Troyce McDaniel of Tampa, and Catherine McDaniel of Natchez and Mary Virginia Guice of Opelousas; two great-grandchildren, Jake and Eliza Pryor of Dallas; three sisters, Faye Gordin of Crystal Springs, Elaine Andrews and husband, Shug, both of Longview, Texas and Linda Rachelle and husband, Dave, both of Patterson, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matt Headley, Troyce McDaniel, William Morrow, Stephen Pryor, Tommy Dennig, David Donnell, Ricky Donnell and Ray Routon Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Faye Bouie Etheridge, Fred Gast, Claude Langston, Johnny Loomis, Charlie Montgomery, Jerry Quave and Vic Vegas.
