VIDALIA — A Natchez man was arrested in connection with a fatal late-night stabbing that occurred in Vidalia Wednesday.
Ricardo Kentrell Dukes, 29, of 6 Ray St., Natchez, was arrested on charges of second-degree murder early Thursday morning.
Dukes was booked at the Vidalia Police Department on the charges at approximately 3 a.m.
The Vidalia Police responded to a call at 103A John Dale Drive, where police and ambulance assistance was requested.
When the officers and rescue personnel arrived on the scene, they found Frank E. Holmes, 50, lying unconscious and with no pulse on the bathroom floor.
The Concordia Parish Coroner’s Office later declared Holmes dead.
Holmes reportedly had two stab wounds to his chest and cuts to his wrists and hands.
Witnesses on the scene identified Dukes as the suspect in the stabbing, and the Natchez Police located him at his residence and detained him for questioning at the request of the VPD.
Dukes was arrested on a warrant by Vidalia Investigator Chuck Hall, and Dukes reportedly stated that the stabbing began as an argument that escalated into a knife fight after a period of friendly drinking.
The police also recovered marijuana from the residence.
The investigation is ongoing.
