Westminster to host musician for celebration

NATCHEZ — David Pettit, an accomplished organist, composer, church musician and educator, will give an organ recital at the Jubilee Celebration at Westminster Presbyterian Church on April 12.

Pettit has appeared throughout the United States mainland and Hawaii, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, China and the West Indies. He has held management and product specialist positions in the music industry including a 20-year tenure with Rodgers Organs of Hillsboro, Ore.

Pettit was a full scholarship student at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music where he graduated with degrees in Organ Performance and Music Education.

He has played as many as 30 concerts in a year and has also given numerous workshops and master classes including recent events at the Beijing Conservatory and the Juilliard School of Music.

To date, Pettit’s compositions encompass 63 works from piano solos to choral anthems and full orchestral writing.

He is presently writing a full orchestral piece with organ for the 30th Anniversary of the Signature Symphony in Tulsa, titled “The Eagle.”

Pettit will conduct the organ recital at Westminster Church at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 in the sanctuary and will be performing on the Rodgers Trillium 837 organ.

The public is invited to attend.
