Registration open for Co-Lin medical lab

WESSON — The Medical Laboratory Technology program on Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Wesson campus is currently accepting applications for the fall 2008 semester.

The deadline for application is Friday, May 30.

The two-year Medical Laboratory Technology Program is designed to instruct students in the theoretical and practical skills required for the entry-level practice of clinical laboratory science.

The curriculum includes technical and academic courses taken on campus and 24 weeks of didactic instruction and skill development in an affiliated hospital. Upon successful completion of the technical program, the student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and will be eligible to take a National Certification examination.

Special admissions requirements include that all applicants must meet general requirements to enter Co-Lin, complete the Medical Laboratory Technology application (available online at www.colin.edu), meet requirements of College Algebra or Intermediate Algebra and College English, two letters of recommendation, and all educational transcripts of high school level and above must be on file in the admissions office.

Also, students must submit a recommended composite score of 18 or higher on the ACT, must interview with the Medical Laboratory Technology Selection Committee, and complete a health examination form.

Acceptance to the MLT program will be based on interview, ACT score, and GPA on previous work.
