Chapman wins Borderline Anglers Bass event

MONTEREY — The Borderline Bass Anglers held their April event on a whitecapping Black River Lake near Monterey.
The water was 65-70 and the air 55-70 under a bluebird sky. Fifteen members and three guests weighed 62 bass with nine limits and no zips.
Donnie Chapman got the “big bite” 4.05 pounder to weigh a five bass limit of 11.30 on jigs while Ronnie Gillespie had a 9.90 limit for 2nd on spinnerbaits and plastics.
Third was a tie with 9.10 limits by Barry Chapman and Joey Chapman on some jigs.
Others weighing were: Buddy Smith (8.90 limit), Doug Schexnayder (8.45 limit on AT jigs), Bill Murray (7.35 limit), Keith Andrews (7.0 limit), Carrol Ray Huff (6.85 limit), Ricky Gillespie (two for 5.50), Mike Essary (two for 4.40), Steve Gibson (three for 3.65), Bob Holland (two for 3.10), Pedro Reeves (two for 2.40) and Bobby Hall (one for 1.45).
Guest results were: Mike Tillman (two for 5.05), Caleb Chapman (two for 4.20) and Aaron Murray (one for 1.65).
