The National weather Service has raised the predicted crest of the Mississippi River to 57.0 feet. The river is expected to crest April 21.

On Tuesday the river was measured at 55.8 feet.

The river is continuing to rise at Memphis, Tenn., and Helena, Ark. Additional heavy rainfall is expected this weekend from southwest Missouri to northeast Missouri adding to existing flooding conditions.

Extended forecasts show above normal rainfall over the upper Mississippi and Ohio river valleys over the next two weeks.
