NATCHEZ – Services for Willie “Son” Woods Sr., 97, of Harvey, Ill., who died Saturday, April 12, 2008, in Harvey, will be at noon Saturday at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Woods was born July 1, 1910, in Charleston, the son of John and Stella Chinn Woods Russell. He was formerly employed with Ben Franklin Auto Dealership in Chicago. He was retired. Mr. Woods was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Rosie Lee, Lucille and Josephine Woods.
Survivors include his daughter, Lucille Dampier of Harvey, Ill.; two sons, Willie Woods Jr. and wife, Irma, both of Natchez, and John Woods and wife, Rochelle, both of Riverhead, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Otis Dampier and wife, Alica, both of Kenosha, Wis., Derrick Dampier and wife, Reba, both of Blue Island, Ill., Ameldia Evans of Dumfries, Va., Darryl Woods of Memphis, Tenn., Kaytra Moore and husband, Derrick, and Erica Woods of Katy, Texas; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Otis Dampier, Derrick Dampier, John Woods, Darryl Woods, Derrick Moore, Frank Bacon and Calvin Evans.
