NATCHEZ — A Tennessee truck driver made an unexpected stop in Natchez on Monday evening — at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Richard Gess, of London, Tenn., lost control of his 18-wheeler, carrying plastics, and turned the truck on its side on the shoulder of U.S. 61 south of Trinity Episcopal Day School.

Gess said he thought he had a blowout just before he lost control of the vehicle.

“I couldn’t bring it back on the road,” he said.

However after Trooper Marqus Fisher administered a breath test Gess was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Trooper Rusty Boyd said Gess was charged with suspicion of drunk driving.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and paramedics at the scene said Gess refused medical treatment.
