NATCHEZ — The Cathedral tennis team moved into the State finals with a narrow 4-3 victory over St. Joe Greenville on Monday.

With the win, the Green Wave advance to play in the Class 1A State Finals in Jackson on May 8 against Sacred Heart of Hattiesburg.

Taking victories for the Green Wave were Madeline Beard in girls singles, Davis Beard and Taylor Beasley in No. 1 girls doubles, Sarah Beth Willard and Cami Willard in No. 2 girls doubles and Dwain Perkins and Adam Blackwell in No. 2 boys doubles.

Others who played for Cathedral in the match were Josh Gamberi and David Jensen in No. 1 boys doubles, Julian Stubbs in boys singles and Greg Mocklin and Nina Ngyen in mixed doubles.
