PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Alcorn State improved to 24-11, winning two one-run game in completely different fashions.
The Braves one the first game by a 5-4 score and came back from a nine-run deficit to win the second game 13-12 in extra innings.
In the first game, the Braves jumped out to a lead that they could not keep.
However, a maligned bullpen regrouped and threw 3.2 innings of relief, allowing only one run and striking out five.
In game two, the Braves dug themselves into a deep hole falling behind 9-0 on two hits and nine walks.
Alcorn responded in the fourth inning, scoring 12 runs on eight hits. The game would need extra innings as Alcorn won it on opposite field homerun by Jabari Graham.
The Braves return home this weekend for a three-game series against Jackson State, beginning with a doubleheader Friday. The first game Friday will begin at 1 p.m.
