NATCHEZ – Services for Larry Eugene Downing, 63, of Camarillo, Calif., who died Thursday, April 24, 2008, in Camarillo, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Marc Mihail officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Downing was born June 20, 1944, in Natchez, the son of James Henry and Wilma Overby Downing. He was a graduate of Natchez High School, Hinds Junior College and attended Mississippi State University. Mr. Downing was a veteran of the Vietnam war, serving in the U.S. Navy. At the time of his death, he was a senior software engineer for Lockheed Martin Company at Port Hueneme Naval Facility in Oxnard, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his 96-year-old father; one brother, J. Neil Downing and wife, Elva Ruth, all of Jackson; one niece, Ruth Ellen Downing Lagos and husband, Alexander, both of Allen, Texas; one aunt, Eugenia Justice of Baton Rouge; seven cousins, Shirley Haynes and her family of LaGrange, Ky., Thelma Louise Lambert and her family and Mary Frances Touchstone and her family, all of Baton Rouge, Wanda Gaines and her family of Richardson, Texas, Donna Gail Pulley of Oak Grove, La., Terry Stevens and her family of Zachary, La., and Pat Calvin and her family of St. Francisville, La.; and special friends, Harry Tsang and his family of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Dominic Cortese of Oxnard, Calif., and Gloria Versluis of Ventura, Calif.
Pallbearers will be Richard F. “Dick” Kuehn, Richard F. “Rick” Kuehn Jr., Donald C. “Don” Kuehn, Phillip E. “Phil” Hale, Scott Hartzog and Roger D. Haynes.
