NATCHEZ — Five years ago a Halloween prank landed a mystery tombstone in an area yard.
The tombstone was taken to the Natchez Police Department and the department has finally discovered the stone’s true location, Lt. Tom McGehee said.
For five years, McGehee searched and it wasn’t until he contacted the Louisiana Department of Vital Statistics that he learned it belongs in the Ferriday cemetery.
The tombstone belongs to Mary Green, 1900-1977. It will be transferred to the Ferriday Police Department, then ultimately returned to the cemetery.
