NATCHEZ — The ACCS Lady Rebels would have liked a win on Senior Night, but Amite School Center had other plans and took a 6-1 win over the Lady Rebels.

“Early on we had a chance,” ACCS head coach Rick Fife said. “We came out on an emotional high but we just couldn’t get the timely hits that we needed.”

Kaitlan Melton led off the bottom of the first inning for ACCS with a triple and LeeAnn Gardner followed with an RBI single to give the Lady Rebels a 1-0 lead.

ACCS held Amite scoreless until the fourth when C. Causey hit a two RBI single to give Amite a 2-1 lead.

ASC would score one run in the fifth inning, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh to build up a lead that the Lady Rebels would never be able to overcome.

“We played good defense for most of the night, but we couldn’t score our base runners,” Fife said. “I’m proud of the girls though, it was a good effort.”

C. Swims earned the win for Amite while Katie Givens was dealt the loss for ACCS.

Melton batted 2-for-3 for ACCS with a triple and a single while Gardner batted 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI.

The three seniors playing their final home game for ACCS were Gardner, Cristin Rymer, and Katie Givens.

“We are a young team, but these seniors have provided very good leadership for us,” Fife said.

ACCS finishes the regular with a 2-7 record and will travel to Amite this Saturday for the MPSA AA-AAA State Tournament.
