Suspect arrested in double slaying

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — A Horn Lake man has been arrested in a double slaying in DeSoto County.

Southaven Police Lt. Mark Little says 20-year-old Clarence Standard was taken into custody at a Memphis motel. He says Standard was taken to the Shelby County, Tenn., Jail to await extradition.

Standard was charged Tuesday with two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

Police say 17-year-old James Liner Jr. and 21-year-old Cody Faircloth were shot Sunday while sitting in Faircloth’s car outside a Southaven apartment complex.

Little said a third victim underwent surgery for a wound in the chin.

The investigation is continuing.
