NATCHEZ – Services for Beulah Eckford McFarlane, 94, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Edwin Temple and the Rev. Faye Junkin Hudnall officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. McFarlane was born June 3, 1913, in Starkville, the daughter of Dr. James William Eckford and Mary Rice Eckford. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW) in 1933 and taught school in the Mississippi delta until she married Angus Duncan McFarlane in 1938. Mr. McFarlane also taught school in the delta for 12 years. They moved to Natchez in 1949 to enter the real estate business.
They were active members of the Jefferson Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. McFarlane was also a member of the United Methodist Women where she held many different offices. She was also a member of the Natchez Garden Club and a former member of the DAR and the Natchez Cemetery Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Broach Winsley of New Albany; two sons, Duncan McFarlane and wife, Linda, both of Natchez, and Jim McFarlane and wife, Nancy, both of Greer, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Bryan A. McFarlane and wife, Casey, both of Kansas City, Mo., Jon D. Winsley and wife, Mary Ross, both of Mililai, Hawaii, Meade P. McFarlane and wife, Allyson, both of Wilmington, N.C., Jill McFarlane Hendrix and husband, Lee, both of Spartanburg, S.C., Erin Winsley Wynn and husband, Chris, both of Douglasville, Ga., Sally McFarlane Beagley and husband, Nat, both of Richland, Wash., Adam R. McFarlane of Greenville, S. C., and Emily S. McFarlane of Raleigh, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stuart Hudnall, Scott Kimbrell, Anthony Tuccio, Eric Junkin, Bryan McFarlane and Meade McFarlane.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jefferson Street United Methodist Church Circle No. 4 and caregiver, Esther Dennis.
Memorials may be made to the Jefferson Street United Methodist Church building fund or a charity of choice.
