TALLULAH (AP) — The Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent gunshot death of a high school student.

The body was found Thursday in a field house at Madison Parish High School. Parish schools superintendent Samuel Dixon said the head football coach was in a field house working when he noticed a student standing in an adjacent field house. When the coach began walking toward the other field house he heard a loud pop.

It was at that point the ninth-grade student was found dead. The student’s identity has not been released.
