Emfinger gets DBC tourney win

MONTEREY — The Dixie Bass Club of Natchez had its ninth event of its fishing year May 17 on the 75-77 degree high water Black River Lake Complex near Monterey. It’s a very rare day in mid-May when the air temperature stays below the water temperature all day. The 17 anglers and a guest weighed 42 bass with five limits and six zips.
Scott Emfinger of Monterey (10.02 pound limit, 3.28 quality bite) found the winning bite late in the day while Doug Schexnayder of Vidalia (8.65 limit and 3.26 qb) fooled 20 bass for 2nd while 3rd was Randy Pitre of Vidalia (7.16 limit). John “Team Go-Mart” Bruce of Vidalia (6.90 limit) took 4th and 5th was Glen Foster of Natchez (5 for 6.69).
Others with fish were: 6th, Ken Mahoney, (4 for 5.63); 7th, Grady Boykin (4 for 4.75); 8th, Alan Brumfield (2 for 4.30); 9th, Johnny Davis, (3 for 3.58); 10th, Charlie Cannon (3 for 3.56), 11th, Terrell Foster (2 for 3.44) and 12th, Ray Mize (3.37 lunker). Allen Blanton, Robbie Buckles, Paul Foster, Art Edit, Buster Martinez and guest Josh Jones also fished.
The DBC ends its fishing year in August.
