Murder charges in Camden slaying dropped
CANTON (AP) — Murder charges have been dropped against a Camden woman who was accused of killing her infant son.
Madison County District Attorney Michael Guest said Friday that 32-year-old Hattie Douglas will not be prosecuted in the death of her 11-month old son, Kadarrius, because of a lack of evidence. Douglas had been out of jail on a $50,000 bond. Her trial last month had been postponed.
Authorities said Douglas’ son had an alcohol level of 0.4 percent when he died May 11, 2006, but an independent pathologist’s report indicated multiple blood-alcohol tests came back with conflicting results, with one as low as 0.02 percent.
Guest said Douglas does not face any other charges.
