NATCHEZ – Services for Steve Dunbar, 44, of Natchez, who died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter Rock Baptist Church-New Beginnings with the Rev. LeRoy White officiating.
Burial will follow at Leedsdale Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Dunbar was born March 9, 1964, in Natchez, the son of Bailey Norman and Arie Calcote Dunbar. He was a 1982 graduate of Natchez High School. He was employed as a laborer and heavy equipment operator for the Adams County Board of Supervisors. He was a member of St. Peter Rock Baptist Church-New Beginnings.
Mr. Dunbar loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Old Johnson Road Hunting Camp.
Mr. Dunbar was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Gooden Dunbar; six children, Renee Harris of South Carolina, Shemeka Hannon of Roxie, Chelsa Dunbar and Amber Dunbar, both of Dallas, and Steve Dunbar and Shantal Dunbar, both of Natchez; one granddaughter, Jamia Smith of Roxie; two sisters, Theresa Dunbar West and husband, Sam, both of Clinton, and Connie Smith and husband, Robert, both of Natchez; one brother, Roosevelt Dunbar and wife, Rose, both of Birmingham, Ala.; five aunts, Mary Mayberry and Mary “Sal” Malone, both of Natchez, Emma Lee Sanders and Doris Calcote, both of West Monroe, La., and Margaret Staten of Monroe, La.; two uncles, MacArthur Staten of Monroe and Johnnie Lee Calcote of Oakland; one special nephew, Scott Dunbar; four special nieces, Connie West, Taylor West, Seletha Smith and Madison Malone; special cousins, Bennie Earl Calcote, Randy Malone, Betty Malone, Joyce Malone, Cynthia Sanders, Donna Sanders and Nita Brazzell; four special friends, Garrett Knight, Fedel Clark, Michael Mitchell and Eli Grover, all of Natchez; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Gooden and companion, Charles Stevenson, both of Natchez, Carrie Williams and companion, Frank; and two brothers-in-law, Cedrick Gooden and fiancée, Sharon Harris, both of Dallas, and Kevin Gooden and fiancée, Betty, both of McComb.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
