Body of Clayton man identified by family

CLAYTON — The body of a Clayton man who was missing since Sunday was recovered from the Tensas River by his family Tuesday.

The body of Charles Cary Parsons, 39, was recovered from the river approximately one-half mile south of the Tensas River bridge.

Parsons, who was pronounced dead on the scene by Concordia Parish Coroner Sarah Lee, was reportedly seen walking on the bridge Sunday afternoon, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Charles Tarver said.

CPSO deputies and Wildlife and Fisheries officials were preparing to launch recovery efforts from the U.S. Corps of Engineers’ Tensas River landing Tuesday when the family recovered Parsons’ body, Tarver said.
