Order of the First Family of Mississippi to host cotillion

NATCHEZ— The Order of the First Families of Mississippi 1699-1817 will have its Debutante Cotillion known as The Colonial and Territorial Cotillion of Mississippi at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the ballroom of the Natchez Eola Hotel.
All of the debutants and pages are descendants of the earliest founders of the State of Mississippi and their fathers will present the debutantes and the pages will attend and be presented.
Debutantes making their debut this year will be:
Carolynn Naomi Bundgard is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Peter Bundgard of Washington and is a descendant of James Ratcliff, 1812. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Phillip Bundgard of Hilmar, Calif. Bundgard graduated from Providence Christian Academy and works in the family business in Hilmar, Calif. She enjoys music, horse riding and volleyball.
Sarah Elizabeth Bundgard is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Peter Bundgard of Washington and is a descendant of James Ratcliff, 1812. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Phillip Bundgard of Hilmar, Calif. Bundgard graduated from Providence Christian Academy and attends Merced Community College. She enjoys horse riding and volleyball.
Cathryn Colby Cartwright is sponsored by her grandmother Mrs. Harold Davis of Hazelehurst and her mother Mrs. Paul Cartwright of Yazoo City and is a descendant of James Miller Sr., 1810. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Colby Cartwright and served as a page in the 2000 Cotillion. Cartwright graduated from Manchester Academy and is a member of the Children of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames XVII Century. She enjoys playing softball and listening to music.
Rachel Blaine Dear is sponsored by her father Dr. Theodore Dear Jr., of Hazlehurst and is a descendant of John Barlow, 1815. She is the daughter of Dr. Theodore Dear Jr., and Teresa Dyre Dear of Grenada. Dear is a graduate of Grenada High School and will attend the University of Southern Mississippi in the fall majoring in pre-med/medical technology in Hattiesburg. She has participated in the Grenada sub-deb cotillion for the past three years. She enjoys singing, dancing and reading.
Jennifer Marie Deegen is sponsored by her grandmother Mrs. Margaret Cannon of Long Beach and is a descendant of Jeremiah Grishman Sr., 1810. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Uwe Fredrick Deegen of Biloxi. Deegen is a graduate of Long Beach Senior High School and attends the University of Southern Mississippi where she is majoring in music education. She belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoys playing the piano, singing, dancing and water sports.
Rachel Robards Mixson is sponsored by her mother Mrs. James Franklin Mixson of Greenville and is the descendant of Anthony Hoggatt, 1788. Miss Mixson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Franklin Mixson and served as a page in the 1994 Cotillion. She graduated from Washington School in 2007 and Millsaps College in 2007. She is attending graduate school at the University of Mississippi in Spanish. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Delta Pi. She enjoys scouting, camping, reading and art.
Susan Price Mixson is sponsored by her mother, Mrs. James Franklin Mixson of Greenville and is the descendant of Anthony Hoggatt, 1788. Stephanie Taylor Ohlms, is sponsored by her mother, Mrs. James H. Ohlms of The Woodlands, Texas and is the descendant of Henry Taylor, 1817. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Ohlms. Ohlms is a graduate of The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas and is attending the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida where she is majoring in Business. She is a member of Delta Gamma and Alpha Lambda Delta and is a Life Member of The Order of the First Families of Mississippi. She enjoys traveling and fitness.
Valan Maria Pike, is sponsored by Mrs. Joan McLemore of Natchez and is the descendant of Dr. Charles West, 1785. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Peter Bundgard of Washington and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Pike. Pike is a graduate of Trinity Episcopal Day School and attends the University of Southern Mississippi where she is majoring in International Studies. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Japanese Anime Club. She enjoys writing, drawing, knitting and juggling.
Katie Elizabeth Sewell, is sponsored by her grandmother, Mrs. Susan Barnett Easter of Biloxi and is the descendant of Richard Westrope, 1816. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tomasello of Biloxi and Mr. and Mrs. James Skip Sewell. Sewell is a graduate of Biloxi High School and The University of Southern Mississippi. She was a member of Tri-Delta Sorority and the Children of the American Revolution-Alexander Oden Society. She enjoys outdoor activities.
Eliza Beachman Atkinson Simmons, is sponsored by her mother Mrs. William Edwin Simmons, III of Columbia and is the descendant of Israel Luse, 1773. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Edwin Simmons III and served as a page in the 1998 Cotillion. Simmons is a graduate of Columbia High School and attends the University of Mississippi. She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. She enjoys tennis, swimming, teaching and volunteering.
Vaughan O’Reilly Atkinson Simmons, is sponsored by her mother, Mrs. William Edwin Simmons, III of Columbia and is the descendant of Israel Luse, 1773. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Edwin Simmons, III. Simmons is a graduate of Columbia High School and will attend Millsaps College in the fall. She was a member of Alpha Beta Sigma, Crown and Book Club, National Society of High School Scholars, and a cheerleader for four years. She is an 11th year piano student and participated on the tennis team for four years.

Miss Phillips is the daughter of Mrs. Jennifer W. Phillipa and Mr. C. Allen Phillips of Madison, Mississippi where she attends Madison Ridgeland Academy. She is a member of the MRA Magic Dance team and Children of the American Revolution and enjoys swimming.
