Man dies in wreck; charges filed

VIDALIA — One man is dead and another is behind bars after a fatal accident on U.S. 84 early Saturday morning.
Kevin B. Mitchell, 26, of Natchez, was lying with his Kawasaki motorcycle in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 84 when he was struck by a 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Dusty G. Foster, Louisiana State Police Troop “E” Public Information Officer Scott Moreau said.
The Kawasaki was lying in the roadway because it had just been involved in an accident prior to being struck by the Taurus, Moreau said.
Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Concordia Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the official cause of death.
Foster, 26, 17 Front St., Natchez, allegedly fled the scene, but was later arrested by the Louisiana State Police.
Foster was charged with DWI, first offense, hit and run and vehicular homicide.
Both Foster his passenger in the vehicle, Daniel Wilkinson, of Ferriday, were uninjured.
The accident happened at milepost 178.5 on U.S. 84, which is near Airport Road. The accident occurred just after midnight.
