VIDALIA — Vidalia Police are investigating an early-Saturday morning shooting.

The incident allegedly occurred at approximately 1 a.m. in the area of Danny’s Lounge, 405 Clinton St.

Witnesses said an SUV possibly occupied by two white males and two black males drove up to the area, and then pistol shots were heard, Vidalia Police Capt. Arthur Lewis said.

The SUV then reportedly left the area.

One victim, a native of Natchez, was reportedly injured and taken to Natchez Regional Hospital for treatment, where investigators questioned him about the incident, Lewis said.

Though the police are unclear about motives, they believe it may have involved a romantic dispute, Lewis said.

The matter is still under investigation.
