Let’s be careful how we spend taxes

In a recent issue of The Natchez Democrat, there was an article about acquiring a $20 million grant for building a “Forks in the Road” historical area.

Did I read right? 20 million dollars?

Grover Mouton, director of the Regional Urban Design Center in the School of Architecture at Tulane University, estimated the cost based on other interpretive centers he had seen built.

Now, I’m one for preserving historical sites, but within reason for cost.

There are too many ways to use that money to benefit more people that are in need instead of for a historical site.

These are my tax dollars. Somebody does not have their priorities straight.
