NEW ORLEANS — Services for Ruby L. Matthews, 74, of New Orleans, formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, June 2, 2008, in New Orleans, were Friday, June 6, 2008, at Charbonnet Labat Funeral Home with the Rev. Raft Jones officiating.
Burial followed at Providence Park and Mausoleum, in New Orleans, under the direction of Charbonnet Labat Funeral Home.
Mrs. Batiste was born July 14, 1934, in Natchez, the daughter of J.B. Matthews and Mary Lucille Hayes. She was a Catholic.
Mrs. Batiste was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton J. Batiste; grandmother, Sue White; stepmother, Estelle Matthews; and two sisters, Virginia Hayes and Lisa R. Hayes.
Survivors include one son, Richard L. Matthews and wife, Pamela, both of New Orleans; a special daughter, Deidre Galloway and husband, Corey, both of Atlanta; five sisters, Ladell Carroll and husband, Norbert, Sue Oatis and husband, Horace, all of New Orleans, Mary Ann Carradine and husband, Willie, Lillie M. Givens, and Glenda Fay Ferguson; two brothers, James Hayes and Maurice Hayes; one aunt, Clara Simpson, all of Natchez; and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
