Summertime and the good news is easy

Even when things slow down in the summer, the good news continues to come.
Let’s review some of last week’s good news.
Hometown boy Cory Mills got to come home for a few days before returning to military service. And Mills brought plenty of awards home with him. Mills, 24, has been awarded the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award, Tuskegee Airman of the Week and Airman of the Year.
We thank Mills for his service and are glad to hear he is representing our area so well.
Another local, Ashton Pearson, is also serving his country proudly, just in an indirect way. Pearson works at the physical plant at Ole Miss, and is heading up efforts getting the campus’ facilities ready for the 2008 presidential debate.
Work on the Natchez Trails Project is ongoing, and locals received a progress report this week. Once complete, the trails will provide ideal walking space for locals and tourists alike throughout downtown. The project will improve our city and provide something of which we can all take advantage.
We have a few more slow weeks ahead of us before the fall rush, but we know the good news won’t slow down any in the Miss-Lou.
