Wilkinson Co. must look to future

The stars have stopped spinning, the chasm has closed and the time machine is back in its rightful box.
Wilkinson County is no longer caught in the middle of an ugly time warp.
Granted, the previous 10 months are lost forever, but at least the election that started in August is finally over.
Voters who cast their first ballots in August now have one elected official who can begin work and two who will move on to face candidates in the general election.
And, by all accounts, the second Democratic primary was fair. The winners are the rightful winners, and it’s now time to leave the time warp in the past and look only to the future.
Those elected to serve — now and after the July 22 election — need to work to unify a county marred by an unjust election and racial cries. They must be above board in everything they do in order to gain the trust of the residents who didn’t vote for them.
And the county as a whole needs to pull together and focus on what is to come, not what has occurred.
Such a long election period with so many scandals will surely be a memory for many for years, but letting the past dictate the future will get us nowhere.
Congratulations to the election’s winners. We hope the time warp sucked all the troubles away with it.
