FERRIDAY – Services for Albert Baucum “Bubba” Crothers, 66, of Georgetown, Texas, who died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Scott & White Hospital, in Temple, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Means and the Rev. Barry Dennis officiating.
Burial will follow at Calhoun Cemetery, in Calhoun, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Crothers was born July 19, 1941, in Haynesville, La., the son of Will Woffard and Bessie Mae Baucum Crothers. He was a graduate of Haynesville High School and Louisiana Tech University. He worked in the field of insurance for 44 years, and most recently with A.J. Gallagher Companies of Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Masonic Ferriday Lodge No. 309 F&AM, Scottish Rite Temple, Shreveport, La., and El Karubah, Shreveport, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patte Turner; and nephew, Jody Moreland.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marguerite Denny Crothers; one son, Daniel Denny Crothers of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Sarah C. Burgess and husband, Derek, both of Round Rock, Texas; one sister, Betsy C. Moreland of Homer, La.; one brother, David Crothers and wife, Barbara, both of Jonesboro, La.; three grandchildren, Brenham, Miller and Tanner Burgess, all of Round Rock; two brothers-in-law, Jim Denny and wife, Brenda, both of Kekaha, Hawaii and Glenn Denny and wife, Mary, both of Minden, La.; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ray Routon Jr., Michael Burley, Bill Burley, Ben Stutts, John Clary and Jerry Callender.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Rucker, Richard White, Julian Glantan and Richard Serio.
