Monea Cameron, a Copiah Lincoln Community College signee ripped a single.

“It was a fun run,” said Ferriday All-Star coach Dana Smith, who was helped by Myra Stewart and her husband Mickey Smith as managers on the team.

The Ferriday All-Stars only suited out nine players in the State Tournament, due to several illnesses that hit the team right before the state tournament began.

“We were outnumbered from the start,” added Smith. “We played hard and gave it a shot.”

This was the second straight year the Ferriday All-Stars finished fifth in the tournament.

Franklin County players on the team included Co-Lin signee Melissa McFarland, who had five strikeouts in five innings of relief.
