NATCHEZ – Services for Ernest Charles Shropshire, 61, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church, in Perrytown, with the Rev. Willie Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Shropshire was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Wilkinson County, the son of Dock and Gracie Shropshire. He attended Sadie V. Thompson High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from the Adams County Port Commission. He enjoyed reading, listening to blues, gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lillian Shropshire; and one infant brother, Tom Shropshire.
Survivors include one daughter, Ernestine L. Dunbar; two sisters, Frankie Battiste and Dorothy Shropshire; four brothers, James Shropshire and wife, Barbara, Willie Shropshire and wife, Kytina, Tom Shropshire, and Edward Shropshire and wife, Geraldine; two special nieces, Joyce Kirk and Angela Shropshire; a number of other nieces, nephews, family and friends; and special friend, Mattie Williams.
