JACKSON (AP) — Police are trying to identify a man whose shot and burned body was found in an abandoned home in west Jackson.

Police Spokesman Jeffrey Scott says the victim appeared to be in his late teens or early 20s. Scott says the body was found Sunday in a back room at the home.

There have been five homicides in Jackson in recent days.

This past Friday, the body of 30-year-old Latasha Jackson of Flora was found in a yard near another vacant home in Jackson. Authorities say the woman had been shot several times.
