NATCHEZ – Services for Grace Durham Davis, 66, of New Orleans, who died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Touro Hospital, in New Orleans, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Purvis and the Rev. Dan Glenn officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Davis was born July 28, 1941, in Gloster, the daughter of Clayton Durham and Pearl Durham Loflin. She was a graduate of Natchez High School and majored in accounting at Holy Cross College in New Orleans. She served as a volunteer for various charities including the USF&G Golf Classic, Welcome Neighbors, and Stair, a volunteer based, non-profit children’s literacy organization that provides reading tutoring for children with reading difficulties, and was her beloved. She was also an avid bridge player and a member of the New Orleans Duplicate Bridge Club, in Metairie, and a member of Lakewood Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one brother, Charles Cook of Natchez; two sisters, June Williams and husband, Carroll, both of Natchez, and Roselinda Maxwell and husband, Randy, both of Lake St. John; one loving stepdaughter, Debra Hymel and husband, Mark, both of New Orleans; one stepson, John Russell Davis and wife, Sarah, both of Delray Beach, Fla.; three stepgrandchildren, Preston, Chamberlain and Alexandra; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is also survived by her companion and friend, Truffles III, her tea cup poodle.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Williams, Jason Maxwell, Preston Hymel, Michael Williams, Mark Hymel and Chris Strong.

The family would like to thank the many friends who helped during Grace’s time of need. They provided support and love when it was needed most.
