MONTEREY — The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to thefts from several vehicles in the area of the unincorporated Monterey community late Sunday night and early Monday morning.

In one instance, a purse with approximately $140 in cash in it was taken from an unlocked vehicle on Hart Young Road, reports at the CPSO said.

In another instance, a purse with $800 in cash, Social Security cards, credit cards and other personal items in it was stolen from inside a vehicle on Louisiana 129.

Another vehicle burglary on Louisiana 129 resulted in the theft of a stereo and speakers from a truck.

The two burglaries on Louisiana 129 were from vehicles parked in house driveways, and the Hart Young Road burglary was also at a residence.

The thieves went through three parked vehicles at one residence, CPSO Public Information Officer Kathleen Stevens said.

The burglaries were all within a mile to a mile-and-a-half of each other, according to CPSO Capt. Eddie Poole.

To discourage thefts from vehicles, lock all vehicle doors and do not leave valuable items in plain sight, authorities said.

Anyone who has information about the burglaries is asked to contact Poole at 318-386-2200, 318-757-3162 or 318-336-5231.
