We can’t negotiate with murderers

I would like to address the recent comments on capital punishment. My position is that we do not execute enough convicted death row inmates.
The recent letter writers’ positions on killing in general leaves me to think that they are one of those “bleeding heart” liberal Democrats who think we can talk softly to our enemies and carry a small stick to get the job done. Maybe we should have just asked the British for our freedom when America wanted Independence. Maybe we should have asked Hitler not to kill all of those people. I am convinced by your comments that we could have persuaded Hussein to reduce the number of people he killed by at least 10,000 or so per year. You might go as far as to say that those who orchestrated the 9/11 attack should have been standing there with Al Gore to receive their peace award.
Those who think world peace is possible — forget it — that will never happen. There are too many people and not enough real estate. I came through the 60s also. I saw world problems as well as social injustice. I will conclude that your reference to the “old South” means that you are not originally from the South. People who came from other parts of the country to the “old South” to impose their ideas and values often compounded the problems they were trying to solve. As a result of their efforts, we have a more divided South than ever.
With all the attention and praise that Obama is getting from liberal Democrats, left wing news media, Hollywood stars, and other brainless, misguided people, you would think he is the second coming of Allah!
This man seems to share a common interest with you — America should lay down the guns, stop killing and open our borders so that those who do not believe in the America our forefathers founded can come here to take over this country. If this happens, you, being a Christian as stated, might find yourself as the enemy to these people who have no tolerance for religions other than their own.
Leave America the way it was founded. We have been the envy of the rest of the world — at least until liberal-based news media has spouted lies and demeaned the U.S. as a respected world power. What will the “A” in USA stand for one hundred years from now — Asia, Africa, or maybe Al-Quaeda? If you want to share this country and your wealth, share yours. I will be happy to keep mine and my guns!
