HOUSTON – Services for Jessie Lee Pannell Smith, of Houston, formerly of Ferriday, who died Monday, July 28, 2008, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at St. John Baptist Church, 22 Gray St., Houston, Texas.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, 5730 Calhoun Road, Houston, TX 77021.
Mrs. Smith was a faithful member of and served diligently on the Usher Board No. 1 for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Dora Stroud Pannell; her husband, Theodeas Smith Sr.; one sister, Pat Bush; eight brothers; two sisters-in-law; and two aunts.
Survivors include one son, Theodeas Smith Jr. of Houston; two daughters, Yolanda Smith Evans, of Houston, Nicolette S. Charleston and husband, Randy, both of Orlando, Fla.; two granddaughters, Arleita E. Hiner and husband, James, both of Houston, and Jaimee Charleston of Orlando; one grandson, James Ryan Charleston of Orlando; one great-granddaughter, Ivy Olivia Hiner of Houston; five nieces, Freda P. Jenkins and husband, Sylvester, both of Ferriday, Barbara Lee, Vanessa Smith and husband, Peter, and Wanda Gray and husband, Kerry, all of New Orleans, and Patricia White and husband, Jimmy, both Los Angeles; four nephews, Richard Branch and wife, Philas, of Lompoc, Calif., Bennie Pannell and wife, Pearlita, Leon Pannell and wife, Carolyn, and Gerald Pannell and wife, Valerie, all of New Orleans; one sister-in-law, Thelma W. Pannell of Los Angeles; and a number of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
