Vernon Leist

ROXIE – Graveside services for Vernon Paul Leist, 90, of Roxie, who died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at his residence, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Roxie Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville.
Mr. Leist was born May 10, 1918, in Pleasanton, Texas, the son of Harry John Leist and Martha Schlageter Leist. He was a member of Church of Christ.
Mr. Leist served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a machinist’s mate third class.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold Leist and Robert Leist; and three sisters, Edna Leist Kniffin, Martha Leist Fisher and Margaret Leist Turner.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Frances Seab Leist; three sons, Paul Leist and wife, Edith, both of Brookhaven, Don Leist and wife, Linda, both of Natchez, and Rodney Leist and wife, Cindi, both of Elfrida, Ariz.; one daughter, Carolyn Leist Freeman of Roxie; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
