NATCHEZ – Services for Patrick Maier, 76, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Maier was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Natchez, the son of William Joseph Maier Sr. and Julie Lanoux Maier. He was a true southern gentleman. He loved his God, his family and most especially his work. There are many trees and shrubs gracing the Natchez landscape because of Pat’s care and attention.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Willie Maier Jr. and John C. Maier.
Survivors include his wife, Mimi, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage in June, 2008; four sons, Paul Maier and wife, Elodie, Reed Maier, Jim Maier and wife, Katrina, and Lee Maier and wife, Lease; five grandchildren, Garrett Maier, Curtis Maier, Alisabeth Maier, Kyla Clary and Alex Keys; two sisters, Anna May Freeman and Margaret Farmer; two brothers, Walter Maier and Freddie Maier; and caregiver, Ethel Griffin.
Pallbearers will be Paul Maier, Reed Maier, Jim Maier, Lee Maier, Garrett Maier, and Curtis Maier.
Memorials may be made to Cathedral Development Fund or Cathedral Fund for Excellence in Education, or a charity of choice.
