NATCHEZ – Services for Sam Jones, 69, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Smithland Baptist Church, in Stanton, with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Jones was born March 20, 1939, the son of Silas and Exelena Tyler Jones. He was retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Sam Jones Jr.; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his former wife, Charlotte Jones; four daughters, Lorraine Grant and husband, Grady, both of Riviera Beach, Fla., Kelly Hamilton of Dallas, Marilyn Carter and Margie Huff and husband, James, all of Natchez; two sons, Reginald Jones and wife, Ceondra, both of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Melvin Jones and wife, Cynthia, both of Grand Prairie, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be David Jones, Vaughn Jones, Ernest Clemons Jr., James Alexander, Garrett Knight and Albert Davis.
