WOODVILLE – Services for Evalena J. White, 79, of Eunice, La., who died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, in Eunice, will be at 1 p.m. today at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, in Woodville, with the Rev. Roosevelt Henley officiating.
Burial will follow at the Johnson family cemetery, in Woodville, under the direction of Williams and Williams Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. White was born Dec. 30, 1928, in Woodville, the daughter of Fenimore J. Johnson Sr. and Olivia Bibbins. She was employed by the Jeff Davis Parish School Board as a teacher. She was retired.
Mrs. White was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, of Elton, La., where she served with the missionary society, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Louisiana.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula W. Allison of Eunice; one son, Reginald A. White of Elton, La.; one stepson, Gerald White of Missouri City, Texas; seven sisters, Mae Ruby Johnson and husband, Harry, Annie Belle Stewart and Gwendolyn Farris and husband, William, all of Baton Rouge, Oria Lee Houston and Olivia J. Belle and husband, Earl, all of Shreveport, La., Gladys Williams of New Orleans and Lydianne Johnson of Woodville; four brothers, Elder Fenimore Johnson Jr. and wife, Carolyn, both of Austin, Texas, Alphonse Johnson and Charles E. Johnson, both of Woodville and Moses L. Johnson of Madison, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
