HAMMOND, La. — Services for Nina Wilkinson Gill, 84, of Hammond, La., who died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mitch Williams officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday until services begin.
Mrs. Gill was retired from the Hammond Development center, she found great satisfaction in working with the elderly. She loved gardening and tending her flowers. She was known for her contagious laugh and telling stories to anyone who would listen.
Mrs. Gill attended First Baptist Church in Independence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hewlett Gill; and one son, Calvin Douglas Halford, who died at 19, while serving his country in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye Woods and her husband, William, of Woodville, and Evelyn Uli, of Hammond; three sons, Gene Halford and wife, Sunji, of Texas, Kenneth Callender and wife, Mary Ann, of Rockdale, Texas., and Bobby Callender and wife, Shelly, of Tickfaw, La.; one sister, Helen Wilkinson, of MS; brother, Ben Wilkinson and wife, Sue, of Brookhaven; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
