JONESVILLE – Services for Samuel Lee Fisher, 82, of Pomona, Calif., formerly of Jonesville, who died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ackland Creek Baptist Church, in Jonesville, with the Rev. T.A. Baker Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Moss Grove Church Cemetery, in Jonesville, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Fisher was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Jonesville, the son of Abe and Caldonia Bloodsaw Fisher. He was retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital as a janitor. Mr. Fisher also served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Pearlene Thompson Fisher of Pomona, Calif.; one daughter, Norma O’Steen and husband, Johnny, both of Jonesville; one son, Allen Williams of Pomona; nine stepchildren; six grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and one sister-in-law, Julia Fisher.
